ANNOUNCEMENT: Texas RESTORE and South Padre Island Open Free Public Boat Ramp
The Marisol Boat Ramp, funded in large part by Texas RESTORE, will be the first free public boat ramp opened in 30 years and provides an ADA-accessible dock, free parking, and fish cleaning station. Located on the Laguna Madre side of the island, this new $3.2 million facility will help encourage tourism during the off-peak season on South Padre Island and support the emerging boating economy in the Lower Rio Grande Valley.
This project was made possible through the acquisition and development of bayside land by the City of South Padre Island with the assistance of state and federal partners. TCEQ provided approximately $2.2 million in RESTORE Act funding. The Marisol Boat Ramp will benefit the community and visitors alike by providing ecotourism opportunities, while also reducing the impact boaters have on sensitive habitats, such as seagrass and Green Sea Turtles, within Laguna Madre.
This project was funded by a RESTORE Act Direct Component grant from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. This social media post does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of the Treasury or its official position.
